I got to attend the Central Michigan University/University of Michigan football game at the Big House in Ann Arbor yesterday with my best friend Ginger and her older son Tristan. Boy did we have fun!
Central really had no chance of winning this game. My only hope was they would put a few points on the scoreboard. Fortunately they did. The final score was 41-17.
A thunderstorm came through about two thirds of the way through the first quarter. The game was suspended because of the lightning. The 100,000+ fans in the stands were told to "seek shelter, to return to their cars", which was virtually an impossible task. We just stayed at our seats, donned our rain ponchos and sat out the rain. It came down hard for just a few minutes. Then the sun came back out, the bands set about to entertain the crowd that remained, and we waited out the mandatory wait time (60 minutes since last lightning was seen).
The game resumed. We were drenched. We had fun! We were happy!
